New Tampa VPS capacity is live. Deploy a server in minutes.
Use case

Jellyfin server hosting,
on a VPS you control.

The open-source Plex alternative has no premium tier, no Plex Pass, and no account on someone else's server. Pulsar67 Enterprise SAS SSD storage keeps library scans and seeks responsive. Stream your collection from anywhere, on your terms. From $5/mo.

Why Jellyfin

Your media, your server, your rules.

Plex keeps adding ads, walls off features behind subscriptions, and routes auth through their cloud. Jellyfin handles movies, TV, music, books, and photos while the stack lives on a server you control.

No account on someone else's auth server. No analytics. No "we may discontinue this feature." Just MPV-quality streaming over the open internet, with the apps you choose.

Truly open

GPLv2. No "freemium." Every feature, no upsell, no telemetry pinging home.

SAS SSD library scans

20,000-file libraries scan in minutes, not hours. Posters, metadata, intro detection all stay snappy.

Apps everywhere

Android, iOS, Apple TV, Roku, Fire TV, LG webOS, Samsung Tizen, Kodi add-on, web player.

Multi-user friendly

Per-user libraries, watch state, parental controls. Share with family without sharing logins.

Recommended plan

Sizing for storage and transcoding.

Direct-play (no transcoding) is cheap. Transcoding 4K HEVC to 1080p H.264 in real time wants more CPU.

Pulsar Starter
Direct-play, small library
$5/mo
  • 1 vCPU
  • 2 GB RAM
  • 40 GB SAS SSD
  • Music + small movie library, no transcode
Order Starter
Pulsar Enterprise
Family sharing, multiple streams
$45/mo
  • 8 vCPU
  • 32 GB RAM
  • 500 GB SAS SSD
  • 4-5 concurrent transcodes, larger library
Order Enterprise
What you'll need

Getting Jellyfin online.

Docker or apt both work. Pick the deployment style you prefer.

  • A Pulsar67 VPS (Pulsar Pro is the sweet spot for transcoding)
  • Ubuntu 22.04 or Debian 12
  • Docker (recommended) or the official deb repo
  • Storage strategy: SAS SSD for hot library, optional remote object storage (Backblaze B2) via rclone for cold archive
  • A reverse proxy (Caddy is dead simple) with a Let's Encrypt cert
  • A domain name pointed at your VPS
  • Legally obtained media (you ripped your own discs, right?)
Why Pulsar67

A media server that actually performs.

Real SAS SSD

Not "SSD-tier" virtualized over a slow backend. Direct SAS SSD, fast seeks, no scan lag.

Bandwidth that streams

1080p Blu-ray rips push ~25 Mbps each. Pro plan handles 4 simultaneous remote streams comfortably.

DDoS protected

Always-on mitigation helps keep public Jellyfin endpoints reachable during attacks.

Your media is yours

We don't scan your storage, fingerprint your files, or care what you watch. It's your server.
